Pizzeria Bianco DTLA: A Culinary Pizza Pilgrimage in LA

Get excited, pizza lovers! Today, it's all about Pizzeria Bianco, a famous pizzeria at The Row in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Founded by Chris Bianco, Pizzeria Bianco has become a household name when it comes to pizza, and for good reason.

Let's dive right in and explore what makes Pizzeria Bianco so special.

Firstly, let's talk about the man behind the pizza – Chris Bianco. He's been in the pizza business for over 30 years, and has been recognized by many as one of the best pizza makers in the country. Bianco started his pizza journey in New York, where he worked in various pizzerias and honed his craft. In 1988, he opened his first pizzeria in Phoenix, Arizona, in the back of a grocery store; the rest, as they say, is history.

In 2017, Bianco opened his first California location in Los Angeles, bringing his award-winning pizza to the West Coast. The LA location has been a hit ever since, with lines forming outside the door on a daily basis.

Pro-tip: Get there early, like at least 20- 30 minutes before opening to be sure they don't run out of anything you may want to try. For example, Jordan and I arrived at the opening (11am). There was already a line, AND they ran out of two of the focaccia-style pizzas, roughly 6 ordering groups before we arrived at the window.

So, what sets Pizzeria Bianco apart from other pizza places? For one, the ingredients. Bianco uses only the finest ingredients, many of which are locally sourced. The pizza dough is made fresh daily using organic flour, and the sauce is made from San Marzano tomatoes imported from Italy. The toppings are simple but high-quality, with options like house-made mozzarella, roasted garlic, and fresh basil.

Another thing that makes Pizzeria Bianco special is the atmosphere. The LA location is cozy and intimate, with a small dining room and an open kitchen. You can watch as the chefs prepare your pizza right in front of you, which adds to the experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which makes you feel right at home.

If you're looking for recommendations, the classic Margherita pizza is a must-try. It's simple but delicious, with just the right amount of sauce, cheese, and basil. The Wiseguy pizza, with house-made fennel sausage, roasted onion, and smoked mozzarella, is also a popular choice - also my personal favorite.

Pizzeria Bianco is a must-visit for any pizza lover. Chris Bianco's dedication to using high-quality ingredients and his years of experience in the industry are evident in every bite. So, grab some friends, head to the LA location, and enjoy some of the best pizza you'll ever have.
